Happy Feast Day!
We began our celebration of the feast of St Nicholas last night. The tradition in Madeira is for St. Nicholas to ride through town in a horse drawn carriage and hand out candy while another carriage holding a small band plays carols. It truly is a
special tradition and I would love to show you pictures... But unfortunately we had one meltdown and 4 other kiddos wanting to see...we did work a successful zone defense... But did not have a free hand for pictures!
Then this morning the children awoke to little surprises in their shoe that they left under the tree... Just a little reminder of the joy of the season as we wait for the Birth of the King. We read the story of St. Nick and the kids shared their excitement about how He took their Christmas list ( they left it in their shoe) to Jesus... Who then works with St. Nick to provide blessings Christmas Day. Each child received an ornament with their name and the year and a little candy treat... Except for Tobias who got a baby nutcracker since he can't have candy yet!
Happy Feast Day!
I glad to know St. Nicholas came. We were talking out it yesterday at work. A co-worker named Nick brought doughnuts. There were a couple of us in the lunch room at the time and I said, "Thank you! Today is St. Nicholas day so I guess that's our present." Only one other person remembered and said OH YEAH! The other's were like "How do you remember". I said our son and daughter-in-law reminded us years ago and I just haven't forgotten.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know you guy's haven't either.
Lots of love,
