Good Friday

Good Friday started out in a chaotic light as we took trip #2 to the ER with Dad due to a hive break out... He had much to offer up... He is fine now and once we got home we began our Good Friday as a family.
At 3 o clock the sun hid behind the clouds and we did the following:
We colored stations if the cross pages and prayed the stations together as a family.
We began our Divine Mercy Novena.
We made Hot Cross Buns ( thanks Mary Collins!)
We had crown of thorns sandwiches as a snack. (Crafts and snacks thanks to Catholic icing.com

We reflected in quiet at 3 pm.

And we struggled with the normal daily chaos... Yet this day it was different. When the girls and I arrived at the Church for the stations last night we were reminded why the day was sad...
The tabernacle was empty and the altar was bare...
We attended a stations of the cross outside and then attended an entoment. The brothers processed into church with a life sized icon of Jesus. They chanted beautiful prayers. They laid him at the altar and then invited us to lay flowers upon him. It was a beautiful, solemn evening.

Courtney and I ended our night watching the Passion of the Christ with our neighbor. A tradition we started a long time ago with neighbors and good friends in New Orleans.
So today we wait in anticipation for Easter.
Here are some pictures of our day as well as some more beautiful words of our Holy Father...
